Canary Classics: Norwich City 2 Newcastle United 1, 20th April 2005

In the second edition of Canary Classics we’re going back to the 2004/2005 season and a real humdinger of a game against Newcastle United.

The game is a memorable one for me as it features one of the best goals I have ever seen in person from Youssef Safri, and the delight of an injury-time winner from Dean Ashton after Patrick Kluivert had equalised for the Geordies in the 90th minute.

The night was all the sweeter as I watched it with a die-hard Toon Army member, who was practically in tears as we walked back to the County Hall car park after the game. Happy days…
