Championship predictor update – We are staying up!

In football, things change – a lot. This is why it seems necessary to re-do the BBC Predictor in a bid to see how many points Norwich need to avoid the drop this season.

Since the last time I did it, we have picked up some more positive results, teams have been in and out of form and new players have been signed. This means that my football predictions for the final six games of the season back then might not be too accurate.

Having said that, my predictions this time around might not be too accurate either! Nevertheless, it is worth doing just to see whether a couple of wins could potentially be enough to secure Championship football for Bryan Gunn’s men.

19. Norwich City       46      -9      51
20. Notts Forest        46      -17     51
21. Southampton       46      -17     48
22. Barnsley                46      -17     48
23. Plymouth              46      -17     47
24. Charlton              46      -27     38

As you can see from the table above, I expect Norwich to avoid the drop. People must remember that it is still extremely close though and despite the performances in the last few games, things could go
drastically wrong.

However, if points can be picked up in the following games – it should be enough. Not too much to ask is it?

Sheffield Wednesday (H) – 3 points
Watford (H) – 3 points
Reading (H) – 1 point
Charlton (A) – 1 point

Overall, it seems obvious that the remaining home games are the key. If the next two end in victories, it would mean that a huge amount of pressure is taken off the away games. In fact, anything away from home would be a bonus.

It is all about the home games, but if a point can be picked up at Swansea or Ipswich, it would be very welcome. The ‘one game at a time’ cliché has never been more relevant though and it’s Sheffield
Wednesday at home on Saturday.

Pick up where you left off before the international break please boys.

I admire your optimism for saturday ! I trully hope you do stay up though
If southhampton go into admin, that’s another place not to worry about, Forest, Barnsley , and Plymouth to scap it out !! I hope the Dingles go down, I had a lot of time for Sturrock, and Forest i have no feelings either way,

watch out the rumours are Akpo is back from injury….. again….
