Colchester United Preview

This afternoon the Canaries welcome bottom placed Colchester United to Carrow Road for an East Anglian derby.

The game has “six-pointer” written all over it and City will be glad to be able to call on Darel Russell – back from suspension, and I’m expecting recent signing Maceo Rigters to feature.

The U’s have a few injury concerns, and will be missing skipper Karl Duguid, Chris Coyne, Pat Baldwin and the retiring Teddy Sheringham, but Pat Baldwin could return.

A few facts…

League Position: Norwich 18th, Colchester 24th.

Last Meeting: 15th December 2007 – Colchester 1 Norwich 1.

Last Meeting at Carrow Road: 31st October 2006 – Norwich 1 Colchester 1.

Top Goalscorer: Norwich – Cureton (11), Colchester – Kevin Lisbie (14).

Recently Played for Both Clubs: Jamie Cureton, Kevin Lisbie, Ryan Jarvis. For more, there’s a great article on the Colchester website.

My Prediction: When I originally made my predictions I went for home win, and I’ve got to go with that – the thought of the alternative is just too depressing. It’ll be a cagey one, but I’m confident that we’ll put through. Norwich City 1 Colchester United 0.
